Joshua DeFour
I began my career in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2010 as a combat videographer, learning a “one man band” approach so I could write, shoot, and edit video news stories from the field without additional oversight or resources. After leaving the Corps in 2015 I carried that same philosophy over to my narrative filmmaking at the University of Texas at Austin, where I wrote, directed, produced, and edited five award winning short films with official selections at over 50 film festivals worldwide. These projects could not be produced alone however, and I collaborated with and led artists of every expertise and skillset, keeping my projects on-time and on-budget. This culminated with my thesis film, “The 11th Order,” which earned a semifinalist selection for the 2019 Student Academy Awards and currently sits at over 6 million views on YouTube.
After graduating in 2019 I began a two-track career, working as a film director for my production company while also serving as a videographer and editor for corporate video production. Through these experiences I have honed a wide breadth of skillsets that allow me to lead content production from concept to delivery. I can develop pitch decks and write scripts, produce and plan logistics, direct and manage on-set production, edit the footage, and finish the project with the highest level of polish with color correction, animated graphics, and sound design and mastering.
I value attention to detail, innovation, and adaptability, refusing excuses to execute solutions.
